V.O.B. - Fashion: Street Etiquette featured in GQ Mag

Joshua kissi, Travis Gumbs, Street Etiquette Joshua Kissi, GQ Street Etiquette,Street Etiquette’s first time in print has been released this month via GQ (Gentlemen’s Quarterly). GQ’s April issue was ushered out a few days ago with actor Shia LaBeouf gracing the cover. We were brought to the attention of GQ by an email from an anonymous person in a high place who came across our site, which in turn has sparked several collaborations between us and GQ. First was our online guest contribution for Black History Month, titled “Birth of the Cool : 20 Black Style Pioneers”, where myself and Travis selected 20 unsung individuals whose style we admired. It also seems the popular Twitter hash-tag #BELIEVE2010 , among a certain crop of bloggers, has blossomed into something more than tweets of motivation but to actual accomplishments. From online to print, the power of the Internet and blogs never ceases to amaze me in how it crosses traditional media and gives individuals like myself and Travis the means to express our opinion. I’m very grateful we received the chance to represent the Internet community and our supporters in this feature.

Trav: There is no denying that GQ is the magazine for mens style. They have managed to turn a noun into an adjective, something that every lifestyle brand strives for. It’s very fulfilling for us to be given such a momentous opportunity so early in our development. We will continue to build and work hard. Thanks to everyone who showed much love and support when they surprisingly came across us in this magazine.

Fit details : (Riding uptown on the 1 train) – The warm weather swings around, once again providing us the chance to cease the intense layering from the previous season and run with something more simplistic. The Vintage Ralph Lauren polo shirt was scored from a vintage shop; what attracted me to this shirt was the bold stripes and interesting color palette. Ultimately straying away from my A.P.C New Cures I decided to go up a few notches and wear my Flathead jeans this time around. I am also featured in the Denim Debate, a site where myself and 24 other individuals basically beat our denim to shreds and document it as time goes by. The classic silhouette of a hand sewn loafer, in a nice brush antique brown by the company Sebago, is definitely one of my favorite shoes to hit the pavement with as the temperature increases. The large carryall bag from Billykirk is really all I need to carry my camera , books and any other necessities I may require throughout the day.

We were featured in the “Penny-Pincher’s guide to style”, where we discussed our most discounted items in our very own wardrobes, and how it relies more on personal style than brand name to make a product look great.

GQ has provided millions of gentlemen around the world a lifestyle at which to aspire. Stick the adjectives suave , polished, and classic when describing the connotations of the magazine. As you may know by now we have a tendency for reverting back to History in some riveting way. We searched for our absolutely favorite GQ covers throughout the many years and formulated a quick collage from sports players , actors, artist to just damn well dressed gentleman- these covers are some of our favorites.

Great thanks to Andy Comers , Photographer Eric Ray Davidson and the whole GQ staff
